The prevention of dental problems is always far better than treating them when it’s too late and more costly. On our routine check up appointments we perform local clinical examination, completed with digital x-rays.
Your teeth will darken over time. Changes in the colour of your teeth can be caused by such factors as food and beverages consumed (coffee, tea and soft drinks). Other known factors for discolouration may include childhood medications or illnesses, tobacco use, or improper oral hygiene. Our goal is to meet the needs of every patient, and every patient’s needs are different, so we can provide a variety of options for whitening your smile.
It involves removal of an infected or dead nerve from the root canal of a tooth in order to treat a dental abscess or if we get there in time, it’s possible to prevent the abscess from developing at all. First it is necessary to determine the exact length of you tooth’s root allowing the removal of all the tissue inside the roots of the teeth, which contains all the nerves and blood vessels that nourish the tooth nerve all the way up to the tip of the root. The remaining root canal will then be cleaned, disinfected and shaped so that it can easily be filled. The root canals are then filled with a special root filling material. This is all done under a rubber dam, which is a special latex/vinyl cover which prevents any saliva or bacteria from re-entering the tooth once it has been disinfected.
Front teeth will normally only have one root canal whereas back teeth can have up to four canals. It is often required to have two appointments before the root canal treatment can be completed. Once this has been carried out the tooth becomes much more fragile and so crowning of the tooth is normally advised.
These are resin / composite bonded fillings, which can be matched to the colour of the tooth. These fillings don’t contain any toxic substances and they can be placed on both front and back teeth. We use only the best white filling materials so that not only do they look great but they last a long time as well. White fillings have glue like properties which means they bond the tooth together and in some case can be used to strengthen the tooth. It is necessary to remove all the decay and clean the tooth before placing the filling. Once the material has been progressively placed in the tooth a special curing light is used, which immediately sets the filling.
The benefits of replacing missing teeth for life with dental implants are numerous, such as improved facial appearence, gum, teeth and bone retention, a totally natural aesthetic and outstanding reliability. Dental implants don’t sacrifice the quality of your adjacent teeth, like a bridge does, because neighbouring teeth don’t need to be altered or prepared to support the implant. Dental implants will allow you to once again speak and eat with comfort and confidence. They are totally secure and offer the possibility of permanently replace a single tooth, support a bridge, or even eliminate the need for a denture and restore an entire smile.
Our clinic uses the most modern and reliable implant systems. The procedure is easy and painless and the recovery very quick. Immediate load or two step surgical procedures are possible, which means that, depending on each case, the ceramic crowns or bridges may be placed shortly after the implant surgery, or a waiting period may be required for the bone to heal before the rehabilitation with the crowns or bridges.
